As of 11:45 a.m., crews had removed the damaged equipment and set two new poles in the ground. “They have made some real progress, but there is still a lot of work to be done before service can be restored,” says W.I. Jones, manager of operations for Horry Electric.
Earlier this morning, Horry Electric was able to backfeed power from another source to restore power to about 2,400 of the 3,500 members affected by the outage. “That leaves 1,200 without power now,” says Jones.
Horry Electric asks for the patience and understanding of members as crews work to make the repairs. “In addition to replacing the two broken poles, they’re having to essentially rebuild the line,” says Jones, adding that it could be as late as 4 p.m. before repairs are complete.
