HEC service area impacted by storm

A total of 3,413 members of Horry Electric were impacted by power outages late yesterday.  Crews reported all outages had been cleared by 2:10 a.m.

The areas hit hardest were Quail Creek and Socastee.    Lightning, wind and trees/limbs on lines were the causes of the outages on the system. Ten poles had to be replaced on Peachtree Road, which is off of 544.  Problems began on the system at about 5:29 p.m.

“The majority of the repairs were made quickly,” says Penelope Hinson, manager of public relations, marketing and energy management. “The process of replacing poles on Peachtree Road took quite a bit longer than the repairs required to resolve the other outages on the system,” says Hinson. “It was those members who were the last to be restored early this morning and we appreciate their patience, as well as the patience of all of our members impacted by the storm.”
