“The pledge cards are in and the total gift employees of Horry Electric Cooperative will be contributing to the 2011 United Way Campaign will be $3,437,” announced Christan Graham, supervisor of information systems for the Cooperative. “Our total this year is a little over $600 more than we did last year.”
Graham, who has served as the campaign coordinator for United Way employee giving at Horry Electric for the past few years, completed the 2011 campaign in advance of a September 17 deadline. “That means Horry Electric will be considered a Pacesetter Company for the 2011 Campaign,” she explains. “Horry Electric employees will be recognized at the United Way Day of Caring event, in the Sun News and on the United Way website!”
“The funds you’ve pledged to United Way will help make the community stronger and a better place to do business,” she wrote in her ‘thank you’ to fellow employees. “As campaign coordinator, I appreciate your giving attitude and desire to make a difference here in Horry County.”
Graham also reports that Horry Electric’s Day of Caring team will be 14 strong this year. Scheduled for Friday, September 24, the Day of Caring is the largest one-day local volunteer effort for United Way of Horry County. It brings together a large group of volunteers and provides them with the opportunity to make a difference through hands-on projects.
